Madrid sends warning to Liverpool ahead of UClash
The reigning UEFA Champions League winners, Real Madrid, have sent a warning to Liverpool Football Club ahead of the second leg of their round of 16 UEFA Champions League match.
Both sides have become rivals since their first final in 2018. Liverpool couldn’t stop rampaging Madrid that year when they played in the final of the UEFA Champions League. Since that time, the Reds have been looking for means to revenge what happened that year.
They also met in the UEFA Champions League final last year. The most successful team in Europe cruised past Liverpool for the second time in just four years.
The UEFA seeded the two clubs for the round of 16 or knockouts of the current season. The first leg held at the dreaded Anfield, but it was miserable for the hosts, Liverpool as Madrid, 14-time winners humbled the Jurgen Klopp’s men at home.
The visitors had to come from two goals down to defeat Liverpool and ease the task at the Estadio Santiago Bernebeu in Madrid. Liverpool would need to perform some miracles before they can make it to the quarterfinals of the continental competition.
The Spanish giants have shown that they really mean the business as they beat Espanyol today in the La Liga Santander match. The visitors saw the back of the next in the first half. As usual, the Les Blanco didn’t look perturbed as they upturned the deficit.
With the La Liga game against minnows Espanyol, Madrid has sent warning to Liverpool that the team wouldn’t tolerate any upset. And that the Spanish team is as strong as ever. If it were to be the era of away goals, the English team would be as good as being out of the tournament.
Meanwhile, the Vitality Stadium was hot for Liverpool on Saturday afternoon. The Reds, who humiliated Manchester United last week, suffered a loss against Bournemouth, a team being threatened by relegation.
