Peter Obi’s LP Looks Forward To Re-Taking Ondo State
Peter Obi’s Labour Party (LP) looks forward to winning Ondo State back after close to a decade. The southwest area remains the only Yoruba state that the opposition party has ever ruled.
Ondo people will choose their new governor in few months’ time and the political party has thrown its hat into the ring. The presidential candidate of the party in the last general elections, Peter Obi along with other top leaders of the party would storm Akure, Ondo State capital for a rally.
Mr Olusola Ayodele, the returning officer in the primary election of Labour Party on Friday said that the party is resolved to take back Ondo State from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr. Ayodele is the deputy chairman of the Oyo State chapter of Labour Party. He declared in Ibadan during a southwest stakeholders meeting that Peter Obi, and Alex Otti, the Abia State Governor would be on ground to boost the chances of the party for the election.
He said, “To lead the Ondo National campaign committee is Mr Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party and Mr Alex Oti, Governor of Abia State. They are to be supported by all LP Senators, Reps Members, State Lawmakers and other key leaders of the Party in the country with formidable solidarity from key members of the Obidient Movement in diaspora.”
Former Governor Segun Mimiko used the platform of the Labour Party to win the gubernatorial election in Ondo State though he later defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
