Liverpool’s misery in early kickoffs continues
Liverpool’s misery in the early kickoffs of the English Premier League has continued. The Reds suffered a bitter loss against a struggling Bournemouth in the competition.
An early kick-off starts at 13:30 (Nigeria time) and it’s always been a tough game for Liverpool. The team flogged and pummelled its traditional rival, Manchester United just last week.
A brace each from Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah along with Roberto Firminho’s strike made Liverpool record an emphatic win over Manchester United. But the same team had suffered a loss from a relegating side, Bournemouth.
This would be the fourth time Liverpool would play the early kickoffs this season. When it started in August, the Reds faced Fulham, a team just coming from the English championship.
The then hosts had to come from behind twice to draw Fulham. The game ended two goals apiece. That particular encounter might have motivated Fulham to perform well in the league this season.
Nottingham Forest also sat at home in London to score a lone goal against Liverpool. The newly promoted side, Forest, scored in the first half and held on to it to get maximum three points.
That wouldn’t be all. The Reds played their first derby against Everton. Both are traditional rivals as well considering the proximity of less than 1km. Everton stood its ground to record a draw against the Reds.
In the first leg, Jurgen Klopp’s men humiliated Bournemouth with 9 unreturned goals. That even cost former Bournemouth coach his job. He was fired by the club’s management almost immediately after the game.
In the fourth early kick-off that Liverpool would play this season, the same Bournemouth that conceded 9 goals scored in the first half and held on to it.
The result from the current early kickoff has lifted the hosts, Bournemouth from the relegation zone.
