A Litre of Petrol Sells for almost N1,000 in Kano, other Cities

Pump price has now varied across the country and it’s moving to almost N1,000 in Kano as well as other major cities in the country. There has been instability in the oil sector since President Bola Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy during his inauguration on 29 May, 2023. The price of the very essential commodity has been increasing and it’s contributing to the hardship Nigerians are passing through.

In Kano, during the #EndBadGovernance protest, a litre of petroleum sells for N780 at the most. But since the nationwide demonstration ended, marketers and filling stations have jerked it up to as high as N950 though some sell at a bit lower price.

Most of the filling stations in Kano are shut, and the few operating are selling at high prices. Online Parrot News observes that similar things are happening in Owerri though the price is still around N800 likewise in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The Dangote Refinery has said that it was yet to fix a price for the much anticipated petrol from its company. It refuted a report that a litre would cost N650 hence dashing the hope of the Nigerian people that they would buy the commodity at a more affordable price.
