President Bola Tinubu has said that he doffs his hat for the minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike over the issue of land allocation in the capital territory.
The minister has come under fire after he revoked lands of top Nigerians including that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, former Chief Justice of the Federation Walter Onnoghen and a host of others.
There have also been issues with a number of residents of Abuja accusing Wike of grabbing their lands and allocation them to his associates. He has denied wrongdoings and said that owners are not paying their charges and he is determined to generate revenue for the government.
In his reaction, President Tinubu described Wike as a good man and a performing minister. Tinubu added that Nigerians do not comply.
He said, “He is a good man. Nyesom Wike is a performing minister. Nigerians lack compliance, period!
“We don’t pay our ground rent on time. We don’t prioritise something to do. We see compliance as inconveniences. I doff my hat for him.”
