A former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has threatened to further reduce the popularity and influence of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State come 2027 when the country has general elections.
Kwankwaso used his New Nigeria Political Party (NNPP) to run for the seat of the president in the last elections and lost in all states but Kano. He polled over 1 million votes in the northwestern state. Apart from that, Kwankwaso was able to lead the party to win the gubernatorial election in the state.
Online Parrot News had reported some steps that the popular northern politician is taking to boost his chance of unseating President Bola Tinubu in the next polls.
While he was receiving some local politicians who served under him, he boasted that he would diminish the influence of the APC in 2027 to paltry 15,000. Kano produces up to 2,000,000 votes.
Kwankwaso, a rival of the incumbent national chairman of the APC Umar Ganduje, noted the achievements of his NNPP “despite being a new political platform coupled with the late start of its campaign.”
“Now, it’s our turn to diminish APC’s influence. We will work tirelessly to ensure their votes are reduced to less than 15,000 in Kano come 2027”, Kwankwaso added.
