The Nigerian Super Eagles have triumphed over the highly rated pharaoh of Egypt. The Nigerian squad opened their campaign in the AFCON with a victory over the Egyptians.
There are certain things to note from the victory of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in that superb encounter against Egypt.
One, Nigeria don’t have reliable substitution. When the coach Austin Eaguevon began to substitute some players, things started to become very poor for the Super Eagles. The coming of Ejuke and Ajayi in the second half didn’t help the matter.
Apart from that, Nigerian Super Eagles may need to rely on the midfielders so as to record goals in the 33rd AFCON.
Taiwo Adeniyi performed below expectations. He couldn’t covert the few chances he had and he was not impressive. The Super Eagles were without top scorers, Odion Ighalo and Victor Oshimen.
If the Super Eagles want to go further in the competition, there is a need to scout for a good striker. Ahmed Musa can be introduced in the second half. And he can deliver for the 3 time AFCON winners.
The Super Eagles got six corner kicks in the encounter. They couldn’t convert any of them. Even none of the kicks threatened the defence of the pharaoh. There is a room for improvement.
