Mr. Ralf Rangnick admitted that it is a difficult job at Manchester United. He has come under scrutiny after the woeful performance of Manchester United against Wolvesmapton at the Old Trafford.
The top team has been struggling to keep the pace with other top flights in the English Premier League. With 31 points in 19 matches, Manchester United is far to its city rival, who have 53 points.
A look at the performances of Manchester United since Mr. Ralf Rangnick came on board shows the team under the interim manager isn’t more impressive than Manchester United under former coach Ole Gunnar.
He has managed five Premier League matches for Manchester United. He drew one against underperforming Newcastle United coming from behind to draw. The last match against Wolvesmapton ended in a loss for United.
His victories over Crystal Palace and Norwich were not encouraging at all. They didn’t present Manchester United under Ralf Rangnick as a team to beat or a club competent enough to challenge Chelsea, Liverpool, even Arsenal in the top four.
He was able to record a good victory over Burnley. But that can’t be used as a parameter to judge or conclude that Manchester United is now a contender or a strong team. Burnley is among the bottom teams struggling to avoid relegation.
Rangnick still has more months to prove his worth. He is still an interim manager. And his effectiveness will determine a lot at the end of the season. The club may not want to retain him if he ends the season outside the UEFA Champions League slots.
Manchester United faces Aston Villa in the FA cup and the team is also paired against Spanish giant Atletico Madrid. Whereas the struggling Manchester United can’t take on the misfiring opponents including Newcastle United.
If there is improvement, it is negligible. At this moment, one will wonder if Rangnick is appropriate.
