Iran Has Been Technically Defeated by Israel in Middle East

0

Anyone familiar with events and happenings in the rather restive Middle East would understand that Israel has technically defeated and humiliated Iran, the two arch enemies in the most troublesome part of the world.

The current war started on 7 October, 2023 when the Palestinian Hamas fighters picked up their arms and ammunition and invaded southern Israel. They killed more than a thousand unarmed civilians and abducted more than 200 in an attack that remains a rude shock to Israel till now.

Israel began its retaliation on Hamas by bombarding the besieged and penurious Gaza strip. The revenge has further destabilized the region and as well dismantled the Axis of Resistance, which Iran coordinates.

Iran supports, arms, and finances Palestinian Hamas. There are other members of the axis – Lebanese Hezbollah, Yemeni Houthis, the collapsed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime and several militant groups in neighboring Iraq. But the war in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria has shown that Iran is not a backer to rely upon as it has failed totally to rise to the occasion.

Hezbollah also receives everything including instructions from Tehran. It fights on behalf of Hamas by attacking Israel from north.

Iran is a kind of leader that will never lead by example. Tehran’s best is to incite and call for violence against its perceived enemies in the region without firing a shot from its own gun.

The Islamic Republic of Iran watches while Israel ruins Gaza, Beirut and larger Lebanon, extends the buffer in Syria and launches a barrage of missiles on Yemeni capital Sanaa.

When Israel was done in Gaza, it headed for Lebanon. There is no doubt that Hamas can regroup, but the Palestinian group has been seriously incapacitated. Its core leaders including political chief Ismail Haniya and Yahya Sinwar have been killed. Civilian facilities have been damaged. Gaza is in ruin!

Israel has done almost the same thing to Lebanese Hezbollah. Israel has used almost all means including pager explosion, ground invasion and airstrikes to decimate the group. The eventuality happened when the Israeli forces “neutralized” Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Most of the Lebanese capital, Beirut lies in ruins as well. Where was Iran? The Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was threatening fire from his safe place in Tehran. Nothing more than that. The same Hezbollah that said it would obliterate Israel was eager for a ceasefire.

Of course, one shouldn’t expect Iran to do anything to assist the members of the Axis of Resistance. Its ambassador to Syria was killed in a bomb attack planned by Israel. Ismail Haniya was killed right inside a building in Tehran, the Iranian capital. Did anything happen thereafter? It points to the general weakness of Iran.

Israel played a role in the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Bashar al-Assad has cooperated with Iran for more than two decades to provide a corridor to pass weapons to both Hamas and Hezbollah. Tehran couldn’t help to save the regime from collapse.

So, within one year, Iran has failed to help its allies. Hamas has lost the fight (perhaps for now), Hezbollah is licking its wounds, Bashar al-Assad is gone (maybe for now too), and Yemeni Houthis are receiving blows.
