IPOB warns DSS, justice Nyako over Kanu’s health

As the case of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu continues to drag on, the Indigenous People of Biafra has sternly warned Justice Binta Nyako and the Department of State Service.

Kanu is standing trial before the trial judge over his call for creation of Biafra Republic and other allegations including felony. The department is prosecuting him.

The Indigenous People of Biafra has raised an alarm that Kanu must not die in custody. The group explained that the health of the secessionist leader is deteriorating.

According to Sahara Reporters, the IPOB said that Kanu had not been convicted of the allegations. Hence, he shouldn’t be put in any solitary confinement. The IPOB said that putting him there contravenes “Section 2 of the Anti-torture Act of 2017, which offence attracts 25 years imprisonment upon conviction.”

The warning to the Federal High Court judge was contained in a statement signed by the spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful.

The group said, “We raise this alarm again to the public to tell the world that Justice Binta Nyako is giving a blind eye to the impunity of the DSS against our leader. A judge should be fair to all especially the accused who has not been convicted. Kanu should not be treated with brutality simply because he is an Igbo.”

IPOB accused Justice Binta Nyako of not being fair in the trial of Kanu, who was extradited into Nigeria from Kenya. IPOB said that the justice was serving the interest of Fulani in the country.
