The Indigenous People of Biafra has once again called for release of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is still at the DSS custody. The group has ceaselessly called for the release of the leader, who was arrested in July, 2021.
The group challenged the president, Muhammadu Buhari, that he should release Nnamdi Kanu just as he releases bandits and terrorists. The federal government has declared the bandits as terrorists just like IPOB.
The president has already made his intent known in an interview he granted to the Channels Television. He said that he wouldn’t consider pardoning Nnamdi Kanu at all. He said Kanu must face the law for his activities.
And IPOB has also not stopped its agitation for his release. The group has used the sit-at-home method which is hitherto not effective. Likewise the group has asked the Igbo people to stop eating cow beef.
The group has reacted to Buhari’s claim that Kanu wouldn’t be released. In a statement signed by Mr. Emma powerful, the spokesperson, the group said, “Federal government should not be deceived by blacklegs and sacked members of the Movement who are feeding it with fake information about IPOB and ESN outfit for pecuniary interests.”
The group also boasted that the Eastern Security Network and IPOB won’t be defeated. The statement said that the group would continue to fight for the struggle and for freedom of the Biafra Republic till the last man.
