The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied a report in some sections of newspapers (excluding Online Parrot News) that it is going to destroy more than 6,000,000 uncollected voters card going back to 2015.
There is still a very high political apathy across the country. Citizens would rather have the permanent voter’s card for transactions rather than to cast their votes.
In a terse post on Facebook, the electoral commission said that the report was false saying, “Our attention has been drawn to a newspaper report that the Commission is contemplating the destruction of over six million uncollected Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) going back to the 2015 voter registration.
“The report is incorrect. At no time did the Commission contemplate the destruction of uncollected PVCs. The public is advised to discountenance the story.”
