The Oluwo now intends to marry Kano princess from Ado Bayero dynasty. The popular king, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, Telu 1, has made arrangements to tie knot with the princess from far north.
The king, who is controversial in his dealings, is a divorcee. His last wife left in a controversial way and the marriage collapsed. And now he wants to start all over again.
The plan may not have gone to public. But a letter sent to the state governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, let the cat out of the bag. The letter dated 8 February shows the big plan.
The monarch didn’t just inform the state governor of his intent to marry Kano princess. He actually made a demand for financial help.
Oba Akanbi agreed that the wedding would cost a fortune and that since it involves two royal families, a sum of N20m would be needed for the event. Hence, he asked for help.
A wedding of that amount of money would surely be the talk of the town. And that means it won’t be on a low-key at all. That money can cater for so many things.
It is true that the king didn’t reveal the identity of the princess from Kano State in the letter. But the letter stated precisely that the princess would be from the Ado Bayero dynasty.
Note that upon the removal of Mr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, a son of the late Ado Bayero came to power as the emir of Kano. Now, Oba Akanbi wants to knot the tie with one of the princesses of the dynasty.
Therefore, with the help of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Oluwo will marry Kano princess.
