The incarcerated IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu is a factor to the Igbo presidency. The 2023 presidential election is around the corner and Igbo politicians are trooping out to contest.
The second most important agitation in the southeastern part of the country is the 2023 presidency. The Igbo people want to taste power and at the same time they want a republic of their own.
Nnamdi Kanu is facing trial for his activities concerning the establishment of the Biafra Republic. He will now be a factor to the Igbo presidency.
The politicians who have come out so far to face the challenges of becoming the president will take a swipe on the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.
Surely, they will want to distance themselves from Nnamdi Kanu.
Only yesterday Mr. Rochas Okorocha, a presidential hopeful in the All Progressives Congress, lampooned the IPOB members as “jobless persons”. He dragged them on the floor.
Okorocha painted them as mere jobless Igbo people. That means he underrated the moves so as to portray their agitation in a lighter note. Nnamdi Kanu leads IPOB.
Recall that shortly after Mr. Orji Uzor Kalu declared his own ambition for the presidency, he went to have a talk with the Nnamdi Kanu. That could be a peace efforts.
The politicians must have calculated that if Kanu’s trial continues along with the IPOB agitation, their ambitions can suffer serious setbacks.
The Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari has written off any pardoning for Nnamdi Kanu. He said the IPOB leader would face trial. And if this happens, there is a need to move away from him.
And that is exactly what Mr. Dave Umahi has done. He has not ceased from arguing that Ebonyi State can never be a part of the Biafra Republic. The argument is clear.
The rest of the country can be skeptical of the the Igbo presidency in 2023.
They know what Nnamdi Kanu is capable of doing and how the activities of IPOB have rapidly increased over the time.
The 2023 presidency can also be about Nnamdi Kanu and Igbo presidency.
