Martinez started staying at the goals for the South American country, Argentina, last year. And since that time till now, he has been helping the team.
He made his debut for the 2021 Copa America champions in 3 June, 2021. He was on the pitch for the Argentines when they faced the Chileans on 14 June.
A memorable event that day was he saved the penalty kick of Aturo Vidal. The following month, he was in the squad that played the Copa America.
He even saved three penalty kicks. Neither Argentina nor Columbia could break the stalemate. Hence, the match got to the penalty shootouts. He saved three from the Columbia’s side. Hence, Emiliano Martinez helped Argentina to beat Columbia.
It didn’t end like that at all. Four days later Martinez and his teammates faced the samba boys of Brazil in the Copa America final. It was a clash of the big boys.
However, the Argentines were successful as they beat Brazilians. Emiliano Martinez even won the golden glove of the competition.
On 16 November the superstar kept six clean sheets in a row for the country. And hitherto he helped Argentina to reach the Qatar 2022 world cup qualifications.
The Argentine team remains unbeaten since he debuted for the country. Their unbeaten run extended when they beat Chile 2 – 1.
