How IPOB & ESN Attack To Kill Five Soldiers
More information has emerged from the attack that the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network carried out in Abia State on 30 May.
The secessionist groups had ordered the people living in the eastern part of he country to sit at home to honour the heroes of the Nigerian civil war on Thursday. To a very large extent, there was compliance with the directive.
But some officers of the Nigerian Army were deployed to Abia State so as to stop the unconstitutional activities of the groups in the region.
The troops of OP Udo KA deployed at Obikabia Junction, specifically at re checkpoint in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
Online Parrot News learned that the junction was very close to Aba metropolis. The soldiers then suffered from an attack that the IPOB and ESN carried out.
According to a statement that the defended headquarters released on Friday, “The troops deployed to enforce peace in the area and protect the citizens were massed attacked by the terrorist. The terrorist in 3 tinted Prado Toyota SUVs and others from builtup areas surrounding the checkpoint, sprang a surprise attack on the checkpoint.”
Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, said that five personnel of the armed forces lost their lives. The headquarters also condemned the proscribed groups.
The statement added, “Overall, it must be reinterated that the lifeline of the terrorist is the people and this situation is no exemption. Winning the war without the support of the people is close to impossible. The IPOB capitalised on this to perpetrate attacks on the troops. The situation leaves more to be desired.”
