How Gov. Adeleke Failed To Control His Home

Several scandals and issues have attached to the incumbent governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke. He has been a object of mockery in some quarters of the media due to his academic records and dancing skills.

But the most current issue has not only embarrassed him, but has also put the whole state to shame. It’s shocking to hear that two persons are parading themselves as the “First Lady” of a state. The office of the first lady (either at the national or state level) is conventional. The 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria doesn’t recognize the office.

That means who’s actually the first lady of Osun State shouldn’t have been an issue at all. It’s one of those frivolities that taxpayers finance.

Bola Tinubu’s wife, Remi, was to visit the state on Tuesday, 23 April for an event involving girl children in the state. Mr. Ademola Adeleke has two wives: Ngozi (who calls herself Erelu) and Titilola.

The two women welcomed the Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to the state of the living spring. And that caused uproar in the state and om social media.

As comments continued to trickle in, the governor reacted through his spokesperson Rasheed Olawale to denounce the flier made by Ngozi Adeleke. That came as a shock.

“The attention of Mr Governor has been drawn to fake news in circulation about conflict over who among the Governor’s two wives is to host the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu on her official visit to the State tomorrow.”

“For clarification, Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke, the First Lady of Osun, is officially hosting the First Lady of the Republic tomorrow in line with the directive of Mr Governor. There is no confusion on this official position.”

“The state government under Governor Ademola Adeleke is set to receive the First Lady and her team in Osun State.”

The governor merely washed his dirty linen in public. What has he done to put the two women at their appropriate places? If he had done the needful, there wouldn’t be any brouhaha over the authentic owner of the unconstitutional office.

Mr. Ademola Adeleke has shown his lack of capacity to put his own house in order. He shouldn’t have embarrassed the other woman considering the fact that she hailed from the southeastern part of the country. His action on the matter could have some unintended interpretation.
