How Electricity Tarrif Will Come Down – Tinubu’s Minister Adelabu

The minister of power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, has assured Nigerians that electricity tarrif would soon come down naturally.

Federal Government through the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) recently hiked the tarrif from N66 to as high as N225 according to Online Parrot News.

The Commission later reduced it to N205 and the tarrif is meant for those who are on Band A (customers who enjoy minimum of 20 hours daily).

Nigerians have criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu for adding to the hardship of the people of the he country by removing subsidy on the essential service.

Mr. Adelabu argued that just as Sim cards and mobile phones dropped in prices, the tarrif on electricity would also drop in cost.

“The electricity tariff might look expensive at the moment. But I’m optimistic that these tariffs will go down. We know how much we were buying SIM cards when the telcos just came. We know how much we were buying telephones.

“But gradually, as we scale up in generation, transmission and distribution, these prices will also decrease. It’s a temporary hardship leading to a permanent relief”.
