How desert foxes of Algeria bow out of 33rd AFCON

The desert foxes have bowed out of the 33rd African Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Algerians couldn’t defend their 2019 titles in Cameroon.

The Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire made the final strike that sent the desert foxes packing out of the tournament which started three weeks ago.

Three goals from the elephants cemented their victory and made them top the group. The goals also forced Algerians out of the competition.

F. Kessie opened the score sheet when he provided a good strike in the 22nd minute of the game. He was assisted by Arsenal’s young lad, Nicolas Pepe.

Tottenham Hotspur player, Aurier, provided assist to Sangare to double the lead in the 39th minutes. It was a very fantastic effort in the very important game.

The second half started with desert foxes looking for means to return the two goals and move forward to winning the game.

However, Ajax top player Sebastian Haller provided a very clear assistance to Nicolas Pepe. And that could be the final strike against the desert foxes.

Of course, the defending champions could have returned a goal six minutes later. But Riyad Mahrez lost the penalty.

Bendebka returned a goal for the foxes. But it was not enough to deter or beat the elephants, who now top the Group E and proceed to the knockouts.

Just about two minutes to the final whistle, the fourth goal for the elephants entered the Algerian net. Sebastian Haller shone for the Cote D’Ivoire side.
