Guardiola admits key error he made

Manchester City head coach, Pep Guardiola admits key error he made when his side lost at away in Old Trafford in the Saturday’s Manchester derby.

The coach, known for his tactical play of dominating the game, lost to Eric Ten Hag’s Manchester United in the English Premier League. And the error he made was not giving more roles to the EPL top scorer Erling Halaand.

The Norwegian international scored a hat trick and provided three assists in the first game at Ethiad when City hosted its rival, Man United. Eric Ten Hag went on to win the return leg.

Halaand had just eight touches in the first half. The midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne was seized by the Brazilian defensive midfielder, Fred and hitherto stopped Halaand from having a field day at the Old Trafford.

The former Borussia Dortmund’s player used to sit in the box while he taps or heads in to score. He often gets assists from De Bruyne and other wingers while he does virtually nothing than to score.

The encounter at the Old Trafford really exposed Pep Guardiola and the fault in his style of game. Manchester United’s defence reduced Halaand to peripheral roles. He didn’t have any shot on target in the game.

Failure of Kevin De Bruyne and other midfielders to perform will surely reflect on the Norwegian international who relies heavily on them. Pep Guardiola has admitted this.
