Bombardment of Gaza: Iran warns Israel, US as Tehran plans to join
Iran has vehemently warned both the United States and Israel against throwing the whole of Middle East into crisis. Tehran ha praised the militants who struck southern Israel two weeks ago. At least 1,300 citizens of Israel died in the attack.
The Iranian foreign minister sent the warning to the two allies: US and Israel on Sunday as Israeli military looks forward to a ground invasion of the blockaded enclave of Gaza.
The foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, asked Israel to immediately stop attacking Gaza, where more than 4,000 Palestinians have died since Israel started its retaliation against Hamas.
British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) quoted the top Iranian official as saying, “I warn the US and its proxy Israel that if they do not immediately stop the crime against humanity and genocide in Gaza, anything is possible at any moment and the region will go out of control.”
Tehran is a major sponsor of Hamas, which United States has designated terrorist group. Likewise, Iran backs and controls Lebanese Hezbollah, which is launching attacks into northern Israel from southern Lebanon.
The foreign minister said that the United States is merely using Israel a a proxy for the crisis in the Middle East, calling the tension between Hamas and Israel “a proxy war carried out by Israel on behalf of the United States”.
