Fulani herdsmen attack Ondo amidst Tinubu’s victory

That Bola Tinubu, a Yoruba man, would take over power soon has not deterred the armed Fulani herdsmen to renew its aggressions in Yoruba land, where the president-elect is coming from.

The Sahara Reporters said that the armed Fulani herdsmen struck at Ayede Ogbese in Ondo state. The community is just a few kilometers to Owo, where a dastard act was carried out last year.

Ondo state, an agrarian area of the southwest, has come under numerous spates of attacks of the nomads who seek green pastures for their livestock.

The herdsmen reportedly kidnapped several people while they inflicted varying degrees of injuries on other people in the community.

A resident of the area, who spoke with the Sahara Reporters related how the armed Fulani herdsmen carried out the attack in the Ondo town.

An eyewitness said, There was an attack on the residents of Ogbese. Some were kidnapped while some were badly injured, the residents of the town are now living in fear.”

Hundreds of thousands of Yoruba voters campaigned and voted for Bola Tinubu with the expectations that the Fulani herdsmen attacks would stop. The cattle rustlers have been emboldened by the presence of Muhammadu Buhari in power.

Several towns in Yoruba land have been under the siege and ceaseless attacks of the nomads. They graze their cattle on farmlands which draw the irk of the farmers.
