Fubara Sets To Probe & Prosecute Wike
There is no immediate end to the political rift between Mr. Nyesom Wike and his successor, Simi Fubara even though stakeholders have made concerted efforts to stop escalation of tension.
President Bola Tinubu intervened last year to let the sleeping dog lie and to make all sides of the crisis sheathe their swords. The incumbent governor was accused of biting the fingers that feed him. He defended himself saying his “benefactor”, Wike wanted to play godfather.
Amidst all these, Fubara has not directly talked about Wike until towards the end of last month and very early this month when he, all of a sudden, became bolder and said he would wield the power he has as the state governor.
Last week, Fubara said that the 25 lawmakers, who are loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Wike, are no longer members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. He stood his ground and said that he couldn’t bow for anyone.
As if it’s not enough, the Rivers State governor, who was relatively unknown until Wike singlehandedly imposed him on the Rivers State chapter of the PDP, has said that he would probe the 8-year administration of the current minister.
To show his determination to prosecute Wike, the governor, Fubara has set up an investigative committee to look into the last government. A wild goose chase!

He charged the new Commissioner of Justice to immediately set up a panel to probe Nyesom Wike.
