I’m Now Fully In Charge Of Rivers State – Fubara

Rivers State Governor Simi Fubara has claimed that he has been able to secure maximum control over the state. He said that he is now in charge and stability has been restored to the oil rich state.

The crisis which almost tore the state is between Mr. Fubara, and his predecessor Nyesom Wike, who is now the Federal Capital Territory minister. They have been at loggerheads to the extent that the intervention of President Bola Tinubu has proved futile.

The matter has also reached the Rivers State House of Assembly, where the 25 lawmakers, who are loyal to Wike, have lost their seats. A court sitting in Port Harcourt on Thursday declared their seats vacant.

“It was not just an ordinary political crisis. It was a vicious existential crisis”, Fubara said.

Commissioners who are also loyalists of Wike in the cabinet have resigned citing toxicity in the government.

Most of those who served under Wike were forced down the throat of Fubara. The incumbent governor himself was the accountant general when Wike was leading the state.

“We started this journey with a bang. We were focused. We were determined to make the change we promised with a sense of urgency.

“But then, somehow, we suddenly found ourselves in the cesspit of crisis barely three months into our tenure”.

Rivers State House of Assembly, which was dominated by Pro-Wike lawmakers almost succeeded in impeaching Simi Fubara.

He added, “The worst is over. We have successfully defended our right and opportunity to govern.”
