Immediate past vice president Yemi Osinbajo, a professor of law, has congratulated the incumbent President Bola Tinubu and his vice Kashim Shettima.
The ex number 2 citizen of the constitution expressed his congratulations to the two leaders on their victory in the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Both Labour Party’s Peter Obi and PDP’s Atiku Abubakar dragged Tinubu and Shettima to the tribunal. They said that the duo were not duly elected or that they were not qualified to run for the elections in the first instance.
But the tribunal dismissed their arguments and petition on Wednesday for lacking merit. The court also fined them for bringing the cases with no evidence.
The ex vice president Yemi Osinbajo sent his congratulatory message to his former Principal in Lagos on his verified Facebook page on Saturday. He said that the verdict of the court is a great victory for the country’s constitutional democracy and its rule of law.
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo wrote, “Congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, and our great party the All Progressives Congress on the judicial affirmation of the victory at the Presidential election of February 25th 2023.
“This ruling is a great victory for Nigeria’s constitutional democracy and it’s rule of law. The practice of democracy in our nation has been further strengthened by the fact that all parties faithfully followed the electoral process according to the law and relied on our courts in the event of dispute.
“Our Nation now needs all of us, to work together to address our challenges and to deliver the realization of the incredible potentials of our Nation.”
Osinbajo contested against Bola Tinubu for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress. Whereas it’s Tinubu who nominated Osinbajo to run along with ex president Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
