Evidence that shows Buhari backs Bola Tinubu

Critics have asked if really Muhammadu Buhari backs Bola Tinubu. They have asked lots of questions based on the situations of the country. Nigerians are groaning in pains arising from the unprecedented (or coincidental) scarcity of fuel and cash.

They argue that Muhammadu Buhari shouldn’t have let such a crisis take place few weeks to the general elections in which his All Progressives Congress seeks to retain federal power.

Even stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress including Umar Ganduje, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and Femi Fani-Kayode have alleged that there are some forces in the presidency, the seat of power, working to foil Tinubu’s struggle to presidency.

Neither the president nor his spokespersons have reacted to the unsubstantiated claim from the critics and echelons. But the president has done so much to prove he backs the candidate of his party, Tinubu.

The president has a very busy schedule. As the head of the government, he needs to keep the government moving no matter the political activities of the country. The interests of the country supercede that of the political party or its candidate.

Yet and rather more surprisingly, the president has appeared in several rallies of Bola Tinubu most notably in the northern region, where APC needs to work harder.

The president was with Tinubu and the party as a whole in Borno and Yobe state. He also joined the team at Bauchi State even though there were skirmishes in the organisation of the rally in Bauchi State.

The critics later claimed that Buhari didn’t inform the crowd and electorate to cast their votes for Tinubu. What else could they have expected the president to do? He appeared at the rallies, yet they picked on him.

Tinubu was in the southern region where he launched attacks to the presidency. He made claims and talked without bridling his tongue. He lamented why there would be crisis in the country some weeks to the poll.

Muhammadu Buhari must have heard the comments Tinubu made. That still didn’t stop him from attending the rally in Nassarawa state. He even urged the people to vote massively for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Buhari backs Bola Tinubu and the evidence is clear. The scarcity is not enough to conclude that the president isn’t paying Tinubu back. In fact, one wouldn’t expect him to do better for the ex Lagos state governor.
