Enemies Want Military to Take Over – Bola Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has claimed that enemies of the country’s democracy are working on returning the country backward to the old and unpalatable military era.
Nigeria retuned to democratic rule in 1999 when the then military head Abdulsalam Abubakar handed over to democratically elected president Olusegun Obasanjo.
Online Parrot News reported that some protesters in Gombe and Sokoto State are calling for an end to the democratic rule, calling on the military to take over the affairs of the country.
Tinubu has displayed some smartness by appointing the Yoruba people to head the military establishment including the army and the police. Nevertheless, he warned against any attempt to hijack power.
He said, “Now that we have been enjoying democratic governance for 25 years, do not let the enemies of democracy use you to promote an unconstitutional agenda that will set us back on our democratic journey. Forward ever, backward never!
“Let us work together to build a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come. Let us choose hope over fear, unity over division, and progress over stagnation. The economy is recovering; please don’t shut out its oxygen.”
