El-Rufai extols Obasanjo, says ex president’s 2nd term is best
The immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has extolled former president Olusegun Obasanjo. Mr. El-Rufai argued that we it comes to economy of the country, Nigeria, the second term of Obasanjo remains the best.
Since Obasanjo left office in 2007, there have been four presidents. The late Umar Yar’adua took over from him. After his untimely death, Goodluck Jonathan became the president of the nation. Muhammadu Buhari spent eight years after Jonathan.
It may be too early to pass judgement or view on Bola Tinubu, who took power some months ago.
Mallam Nasir El-Rufai expressed his opinion while attending the Africa in the world conference at Stellenbosch in South Africa on Friday.
He said that the ex president utilized the rise in price of crude oil. The Nigeria’s natural resource rose when Obasanjo was leading the country.
The ex governor said, “If you look at Nigeria’s economy trajectory, the most successful four to five-year period of economic growth, job creation, and reduced inflation was the period of of the second term of President Olusegun Obasanjo from 2003 to 2007, when for the first time , the country went back into proper integrated planning and we also got lucky”.
