EFCC deploys personnel to Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi for elections

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has deployed its operatives to Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi State as residents and voters in the states go to poll tomorrow to elect new governors.

EFCC announced the deployment on social media and it also stated the reason for the deployment of its personnel for the elections.

The commission wants to tackle vote buying and selling in the three states. The menace of voter’s inducement has made the democratic process less reliable. EFCC also wants to stop any form of manipulation of the election, which goes against the provisions of the Electoral Act.

The commission noted that the deployment of its men was to checkmate electoral fraud across the three states where elections would be held.

The commission’s statement titled, ‘EFCC in Election Monitoring Operations’, read in part, “In its drive to checkmate electoral fraud and associated financial crimes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has deployed its officers to Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo states where governorship elections are holding on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

“The commission’s monitoring operations are to tackle any form of voter’s inducement through vote buying, vote selling and other manipulation of the electoral processes at variance with the Electoral Act”.
