A lawyer and human rights activist Dele Farotimi has talked tough after his release from the Ekiti State prison on Tuesday. The lawyer wrote a book indicting Aare Afe Babalola, a senior advocate of Nigeria.
He was arrested about three weeks ago in one instance that shows how poor Nigerian legal system is. Having fulfilled all the rather stringent bail conditions, the lawyer regained his freedom.
In one of his comments on his ordeal and struggle against Afe Babalola, the lawyer said that it’s not easy to fight evil, obviously referring to the founder and owner of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti.
Dele Farotimi appreciated everyone for rising to the occasion to demand his release from incarceration.
He said, “One thing I need all of you to know is this. I am not mindful of the sacrifices that you have made to be here today. May the grace of God find and locate you wherever you are.
“It is never an easy journey when you’re fighting evil. But some years ago, before I began this walk, God spoke to me very clearly. I heard Him say, ‘Once has it been spoken: the truth is the only weapon by which you can slay the monster called Nigeria.’
“The truth, nothing else. In my public advocacy, in my fight, and my wars against this evil empire that we all live in, I have never lied against anyone,” he added.
