Dave Umahi’s sacking: two more govs to lose seats

0

Dave Umahi’s sacking came as a very big surprise. It was one of the least expected at this time. Even there is no hint that a court matter is ongoing. The court has decided.

The main reason or argument for his sacking is that he left the People’s Democratic Party for the APC. The court therefore sacked him and his deputy. Even lawmakers, who joined the APC along with him, were also sacked.

Mr. Dave Umahi left the People’s Democratic Party purposely because of the 2023 presidential election. He had even declared ambition on the APC platform.

He said that the People’s Democratic Party didn’t do enough to accelerate Igbo presidency. Therefore, he left for the APC. The PDP felt bad. The party wouldn’t take it light with him. So, the PDP approached the court.

Mr. Bello Matawalle, the Zamfara State governor risks losing his job. The PDP might pursue him as well for joining the APC. Definitely, he used to be a member of the All Progressives Congress.

Sequel to the 2019 general elections, Mr. Bello Matawalle left the APC for the PDP. He used the platform of the opposition party to become the Zamfara State governor.

Mid last year, he announced his departure from the PDP. He returned home, to his former political camp. And he got the welcome of the APC.

The Dave Umahi’s sacking can actually encourage the PDP to pursue Mr. Bello Matawalle as well. To worsen the situation, the deputy governor refused to camp with him.

And Matawalle wouldn’t take it easy with him. He asked the Zamfara State House of Assembly to impeach the deputy. And swiftly, one of the three Zamfara State senators was nominated.

Matawalle can suffer the same fate of the Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi. He may also lose his job and office.

Cross Rivers State governor, Ben Ayade, can be PDP’s target as well. His own defection to the APC was far more surprising. He kept on assuring the PDP that he wouldn’t leave.

But he did leave. He bade the PDP goodbye. There is still enough time for the PDP to pursue a case against him. Surely, the People’s Democratic Party is really strong in Cross River.
