There is another serious setback for Liverpool as they play against Chelsea tomorrow in an encounter that would reshape the English Premier League table. The two teams follow runaway leaders, Manchester City.
The outcome of the game would surely influence the struggle for the title. But Chelsea has apparently got an edge while Liverpool has got a setback that can pave the way for the blues tomorrow.
Liverpool’s coach, Jorgen Klopp has tested positive for the resurging coronavirus disease. And this means he will have to go on isolation for a period of time. And the implication of this is that he can only see the match on the television.
The absence of Klopp would open way for Chelsea to take advantage. Definitely, Liverpool has lots of experience players, but they can’t do much on the pitch when they face Tuchel’s Chelsea without their coach.
A part of the statement released by the club says, “Jurgen Klopp will miss Liverpool’s Premier League meeting with Chelsea on Sunday after returning a suspected positive COVID-19 test result.”
The club said that it wouldn’t ask for postponement of the game against Chelsea and that Pep Lijnders, the assistant coach, would be fully in charge of the encounter.
As at the time of making this report, no player of Liverpool has tested positive for the disease. This could worry Chelsea because the impact of Klopp’s absence would be minimal.
Chelsea will be at home to host Liverpool. And Tuchel’s side would want to shake off the last minute draw against Brighton in the English Premier League.
