Breaking News: Catholic Priest wins Benue State guber poll
A Catholic priest, Father Hyacinth Alia has won the gubernatorial election in Benue State. He will take over from Samuel Ortom of the PDP in Makurdi, the state capital.
The returning officer, Prof. Faruq Kuta, the vice chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, made the declaration.
The reverend father polled 473,933 votes to beat his main rival Titus Uba, who scored 223,913.
Benue incumbent governor Samuel Ortom has looked forward to installing a successor. He is among the G5 governors who fought Atiku Abubakar.
