Governor Buni beats PDP candidate to win second term
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has secured his second term in office as the governor of the northeastern state. He beat his rivals in the People’s Democratic Party and the New Nigeria Political Party.
Mr. Buni was at a time the interim leader of the All Progressives Congress. He successfully held the last national convention of the political party.
He polled 317,113 votes as against that of the PDP, Alhaji Sharif Abdullahi who had 124,259 votes. The People’s Democratic Party has never won or ruled Yobe State in the past.
The candidate of the NNPP scored 14,246 votes to come third behind the first two. Governor Buni is one of the governors seeking reelection and he has comfortably beaten his opponents.
The top APC echelon won in all the 17 local government areas of the state.
