A very close ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Katsina State governor has asked citizens of the state to arm themselves by getting guns against the bandits. The governor seems to have lost all hopes in the security apparatus in the country. Hence, he made the conclusion.
Bandits have ceaselessly attacked key northwestern states including Katsina, the state of origin of the president. Hundreds of lives have been lost and properties carted away by the bandits whose activities have caused panics throughout the country.
Masari was in the journalists’ house in Katsina when he asked the people to buy guns and arm themselves. The governor said that efforts of the president have not produced results and the security operatives couldn’t handled the situation.
The governor said, “It’s Islamically allowed for one to defend himself against attack. One must rise to defend himself, his family and assets. If you die while trying to defend yourself, you’ll be considered a martyr. It’s surprising how a bandit would own a gun while a good man trying to defend himself and his family doesn’t have one,” the governor said.”
He argued that in as much as the bad people (bandits) have guns, the good people should have it as well. The citizens should therefore arm themselves so as to defend their family members.
