The President of the United States of America (POTUS) Joe Biden would be in Israel on Wednesday as war between the Palestinian Hamas and Israeli military enters the second week.
Joe Biden has already said that it would not ask Israel to exercise restraint in its reprisals on the Hamas, which stays fully at Gaza Strip. The president had also warned other actors including Iran to steer clear of the crisis.
Anthony Blinken, the US secretary of state made the announcement after several hours of conversation with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on phone. The prime minister has reported agreed to let civilians in Gaza have access to humanitarian aid.
The secretary of state also said that the US president would know what Israel needs to defend itself and its people. The resistant group, Hamas took Israel by surprise with the attacks on southern Israel.
Blinken also said that the president would “hear how Israel will conduct its operations in a way that minimizes civilian casualties and enables humanitarian assistance to flow to civilians in Gaza in a way that does not benefit Hamas.”
The United States is making efforts to stop the crisis from reaching the wider restive Middle East region. Biden would meet with Jordanian King Abdullah and Egyptian President Fattah al-Sisi.
