Sacked EFCC boss Bawa drags DSS to court for 120-day detention

The suspended and later sacked chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa has dragged the Department of State Service to court over his prolonged detention.

The ex EFCC head has now spent 120 days in the custody of the secret police. Less than a month after he took power, Bola Tinubu first suspended the young EFCC boss, before firing him later.

Some sources in the DSS revealed the former EFCC boss Bawa has refused to cooperate with the service, hence his continued detention behind the bars. He has denied wrongdoings.

Bawa, through his counsel Chinedu Oburu, approached the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court for the Enforcement of Fundamental Rights. He wants the court to declare his detention as illegal and to order his immediate release.
