Mr. Iyorchia Ayu mismanages Osun PDP primary election crisis. The party’s fate hangs in the balance just as two governorship hopefuls claim ownership of the PDP’s ticket.
Mr. Iyorchia Ayu became the People’s Democratic Party’s national chairman in October, 2021. And Osun State primary election would be the second test to his leadership. He was able to conduct a primary election in Ekiti State.
But the approach he uses in Osun State appears faulty and he doesn’t appear concerned about the consequences. Mr. Dotun Babayemi had warned the chairman against upturning his victory in the primary election.
To make this particular topic more understandable, Ademola Adeleke and Dotun Babayemi are claiming to be the authentic governorship candidate. Meanwhile, Dotun Babayemi had secured a court order.
The high court had restrained the PDP and INEC from recognizing Adeleke as the candidate. Whereas Mr. Iyorchia Ayu had presented a certificate of return to Adeleke.
The National Working Committee under Ayu seems unruffled at all. There has been no concrete reaction or step to nip the impending danger in bud.
Babayemi has expressed his mind convincingly, of course, through the print media. He gave specific reasons he should be the candidate of the party. Yet the Iyorchia Ayu mismanages Osun PDP primary crisis.
Shortly after the parallel primaries, Mr. Ayu set up an appeal committee. No committee could be rowdier or more crowded. It would address grievances arising from the PDP primary election.
The committee has not met at all at least for once. Truly, there might have been no complaint from Dotun Babayemi. Yet the committee, which Ayu himself leads, can’t claim ignorance of the court order.
Then, it is logical to conclude that Ayu doesn’t have interest in any appeal or peaceful resolution of all matters.
Osun State is very important to the People’s Democratic Party. Dotun Babayemi himself had warned that the PDP would lose the election if the hide and seek continued.
