The Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in the last general elections Atiku Abubakar had expressed his shock over the deadly tanker explosion in Udi local government area of Enugu State and he has called for urgent inquiry into the issue.
Online Parrot News reported that a tanker upturned and residents of the area went out with kegs tk scoop the spilt fuel. In th process the tanker exploded and 11 persons were confirmed dead.
The incident came just one week after 98 persons died in another serious tanker explosion at Dikko Junction, Suleja, Niger State.
In a Facebook post, the former vice president said, “Oh dear, not again! My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of all the victims. May their souls find eternal rest. The incidents of tragic tanker explosions have reached emergency levels. It is time for the government to establish an inquiry into this issue.”
