The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami has launched an onslaught on the southwest governors over their comments on the issue of Magodo Area of Lagos State.
The southwest governors had released a statement to condemn the level of insubordination and lack of respect for the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
There was an altercation between Sanwo-Olu and a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), who led a team of police officers to execute a judgment on the Magodo land. The CSP wouldn’t listen to or respect Sanwo-Olu, who had come to help the residents of the area.
Mr. Malami’s office had claimed that the ministry of justice needs to carry out the order of the Supreme Court in the matter and that the federal government owns both the court and ministry.
Part of the statement said, “It is important to state that the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation belongs to the Executive arm of the Government. The Supreme Court belongs to the Judiciary.”
The attorney general said the insinuations of impunity being made by the southwest governors are unjustifiable.
The statement further reads, “The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice takes exception to the Southwest Governors unjustifiable insinuation of impunity against the office of the Attorney General over execution of a judgment of the Supreme Court.
