Adeleke saves Gbongan people over collapsed bridge
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has visited Gbongan, the headquarters of Ayedaade Local Government Area to assess the ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of a dilapidated bridge in the community.
The people of Owoope, Oke Ola, Olufi Market area have been cut off from the larger town when the bridge collapsed about four years ago. The administration of Adegboyega Oyetola (APC) left this particular project unattended to throughout his first tenure.
The bridge has caused several deaths and numerous injuries as a result of regular accidents that happen there. Residents have even turned the road to a football pitch because it’s no longer motorable.
The governor and his entourage were in Gbongan to inspect the project. The Olufi of Gbongan, Oba Adeoyese Oyeniyi, Odugbemi 1 was also on ground to receive the governor.
People of Gbongan also trooped out to welcome the governor for being considerate to reconstruct the project. Ademola Adeleke has now spent 100 days in office as the state governor. He has vowed to make the people’s needs his priority.
His predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola, won Gbongan in 2018 and 2022 gubernatorial elections. Yet he failed to hearken to the yearning of the people of the community for the repair of the dilapidated bridge.
Despite the fact that Adeleke lost Gbongan, he still went on to ensure that the project is done. It will be recalled that he is still trying to retain his mandate at the Court of Appeal.
Adegboyega Oyetola dragged the governor to the election tribunal after the Independent National Electoral Commission had declared the results of the 2022 gubernatorial election.
Adeleke lost at the tribunal, which declared that there was over voting in a number of polling units in some local government areas of the southwest state.
The defeat has not deterred him from implementing policies and executing projects for the people of the state.
