The Seriki Fulani of the whole Ibarapaland, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir has called for continued detention of Mr. Sunday Igboho, also known as Sunday Igboho.
The Seriki Fulani talked with Daily Trust as he expressed his feelings about detention of Igboho by the Beninese Government.
Sunday Adeyemo threatened the Fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa axis of Oyo State last year. He issued a notice to quit to them.
Initially, he accused the herdsmen of being behind the insecurity in the area. He provided no evidence. The Seriki revealed that the government of Oyo State didn’t do anything about it.
Sunday Igboho eventually stormed Igangan in Ibarapa axis. He ensured that the Fulani were evicted. In the process Saliu Abdulkadir lost his properties.
He explained, “For those seven days, the state government sent 14 police officers to us and they were guiding us but the police officers were overpowered by Sunday Igboho’s men.”
Sunday Igboho has been in custody since July, 2021. The security agencies in Benin Republic arrested him while he was trying to escape to Germany.
The federal government had declared him wanted because he called for creation of Oduduwa Republic.
Sunday Igboho started his agitation by calling for eviction of the Fulani herdsmen. He swerved later to demand for establishment of a country for the Yoruba people. This infuriated the federal government.
