Chelsea’s coach, Thomas Tuchel has sent strong messages to his players ahead of their Sunday’s EPL match.
The coach seems frustrated by the performance of his team in the premier league. All hope appears lost.
The Blues played Brighton and Hove Albion in the midweek. The result further compounded Chelsea’s frustration in the league.
Tuchel said he himself could feel and see that there were some emotions, frustration or disappoinment in the squad. He led Chelsea to win the last UEFA Champions League.
He told the pressmen, “I could see, I could feel from myself and from the team, that some emotions took over, maybe frustration, maybe disappointment.”
He therefore told his players that there must be a change in attitude. He called for a different mindset and that they should be “in top shape, because we have a big match coming on Sunday”.
Chelsea was expected to give a run for Manchester City’s money. But the runaway English Premier League leaders have moved far away from Chelsea’s level.
Tuchel argued that the fact that some clubs have outstanding games could give a wrong impression.
The Premier League Board has postponed a number of matches because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tuchel said that his players might think they are above other teams. But the outstanding games are misleading.
The German informed his players, “This can lead to a wrong impression that you’re comfortably ahead when you are not. So we have to make sure that this stays like this.”
