Christian Chukwu has showered praises on Augustine Eguavoen while criticising former super eagles’ coach Gernort Rohr.
Former top Super Eagles player Christian Chukwu has asked the Nigerian Football Federation to have some confidence in local coaches.
Chukwu, who is fondly known as “the chairman”, showered praises on the interim coach of Super Eagles, Mr. Augustine.
He said he was happy with what the coach is doing. He talked about how Eguavoen has been able to turn the team around within a short period of time.
He explained, “I am happy with what Eguavoen is doing now. Within a short period, Eguavoen was given the job, you can see how he has turned the team around.”
The 1980 AFCON winner said that Nigerian coaches can perform far better than the foreign coaches. The NFF recently sacked Gernort Rohr as head coach.
Chukwu unveiled, “You can see attacking force in the team, unlike when Rohr was there. Our game has changed completely and if they continue like this”.
He continued, “Nigerian coaches can perform even better than foreign coaches, but our federation doesn’t have respect for Nigerian coaches”.
Mr. Chukwu concluded that if the team continues that way, they will win the 33rd AFCON.
He argued, “And if they continue this way, we are to win the cup at the end of the day.”
