Femi Adedeji’s Ayo-MBO Foundation Spends over N2m on football in Ayedaade LGA

Ayo-MBO Foundation has spent over two million naira to conduct an averagely standard football competition for soccer enthusiasts in Ayedaade Local Government Area. 

The founder of the foundation, Mr. Femi Adedeji, has been reaching out to the people of his community through his charity and philanthropic work. He now invests heavily in the youths who have keen interest in football. 

The competition started on 14 November, 2021 and was ended on 8 January, 2022 when Olufi United was crowned and rewarded with a sum of N250,000. Obada Football Club came second and went home with N150,000. 

The third position didn’t go home without a prize. A sum of N100,000 was given to the third place and the semifinalists got N50,000. 

Individual talents were rewarded. In as much as the Ayo-MBO Foundation wanted to bring out the talents and rebuild football enthusiasm among Ayedaade LGA youths, the outstanding goalkeeper, top scorer, and best player were rewarded with a sum of N20,000 each. 

The Ayo-MBO Foundation Football competition wasn’t for Gbongan teams alone. It cut across the three major towns under Ayedaade Local Government Area. Hence, other teams were Owu United, Araromi United (from Orileowu), Young Stars FC, Omece FC, Sunny FC and Odeomu United.

These eights team were grouped into two groups of four teams each. In order to make the teams appear better, Ayo-MBO Foundation bought fully kitted jerseys for them and FIFA standard footballs were bought as well. More than N200,000 was expended to acquire the jerseys. 

The competition was played at the St. Patrick’s Grammar School field. The field, which is often referred to as “Gbongan stadium”, is big enough, but it needed some grading to smoothen it. The Ayo-MBO Foundation was ready to do this. 

The coordinator of the competition, who is also organising programmes for Ayo-MBO Foundation, Mr. Ibrahim Olayemi told the Online Parrot News that over N2m was spent on the project to make it more memorable and interesting to the local people. 

He said, “Femi Adedeji and his Ayo-MBO Foundation want to rapidly develop Ayedaade Local Government Area in all aspects. The football competition is just one of the many programmes that have been done.”

The final competition attracted people from all walks of life. The chairman of the Osun State Local Government Service Commission, Elder Tunde Adedeji, was on seat. APC leader in Ayedaade, Elder Soji Opawumi was also present.
