How Buhari covertly rejects Osinbajo’s presidency

0

The president, Muhammadu Buhari, may have indicated his rejection of the bid of his vice to take over in 2023. The interview Buhari granted the Channels Television had pointed to his interest as far as 2023 is concerned.

Mr. Yemi Osinbajo has given the president the tip that he would like to take over in 2023. However, the president has covertly shown that he would rather go for another aspirant for the seat he currently occupies.

Likewise his campaign banners have been spotted in some major area in Abuja city. A number of movements are working for the vice president’s ambition openly. All these show he’s interested in the job.

There have been rumours and insinuations as to whether the president would prefer his vice with whom he has been steering the affairs of the country since 2015 or he would go for another person entirely.

Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, a former president of the country, has been a regular visitor to the Presidential Villa, Abuja. And he seems to be the favorite to the northern elite.

It is widely known that Jonathan can’t spend more than four years in office anymore. Hence, northern elite would prefer him so they can return to power in 2027. The calculation seems to favour the northern region.

When Buhari was granting the interview, he revealed that he wouldn’t talk about his preferred person so that the politician won’t be eliminated. That points to one thing: the person doesn’t have enough security.

Buhari and Osinbajo enjoy the same security measure. They both stay in the villa and enough security personnel are attached to them. If Buhari can’t be eliminated, then, Osinbajo is also safe.

Of course, the Buhari’s candidate may be an individual who doesn’t have very strong security apparatus, hence, the president’s speculation that elimination of the candidate is possible.

Osinbajo may have fallen out of favour of the president. As far as endorsement is concerned, he may not be able to get any from Buhari. And that will hamper his bid. The earlier he realizes this, the better for the educated vice president.
