Why Babayemi can be dark horse in Osun PDP’s Ticket Race

0

The race within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State is so open that any politician can clinch the ticket even with ease. The calculation and permutation doesn’t tilt towards just one aspirant at all.

Prince Dotun Babayemi seems to have dropped his bid to represent Osun West Senatorial District in the Senate for a juicier office in Abere. He used to nurse ambition to make laws for the country. In a shift of ambition, his focus is on Bola Ige House.

When he obtained the form, lots of people outside the state might storm the internet to get more details about him. Whereas, in a sharp contrast, residents of Osun State, most especially the 10 local government areas of the state, won’t wink before reeling out his profiles and good work for them.

He joined the race to compete with other big politicians including Mr. Akin Ogunbiyi, Ademola Adeleke and Fatai Akinbade. It might look difficult, but Dotun Babayemi can defeat each and everyone of them.

Babayemi has tested his integrity and capacity to a large extent. He singlehandedly financed the election of the Action Democratic Party during the last governorship election. There didn’t appear to be help from outside the state.

Apart from that, Babayemi, who hails from Gbongan, Ayedaade Local Government Area, was the candidate of the ADP in the Osun west Senatorial District poll. Definitely, ADP couldn’t muster enough courage, but Babayemi’s individual work and pedigree made him shake ground.

He actually gave Mr. Lere Oyewumi (PDP) and Senator Oriolowo (APC) a run for their money. He can do the same thing in the PDP primary election to be conducted soon.

Of all the aspirants, it is only Ademola Adeleke who had faced a real election twice. Akin Ogunbiyi stopped at the primary election. That means it’s only Adeleke who can give Babayemi some tough times. And the same Adeleke has an opponent from his family, Dele Adeleke.

If Adeleke family fails to present one of its sons as the consensus candidate, Babayemi can cash in on the division to clinch the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party.
