PDP Changes Timetable For primary election in Ekiti

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new decision ahead of the Ekiti State gubernatorial election. The decision comes at a time the INEC gives notice of election in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had fixed 18 June, 2022 for the exercise in the state. The tenure of Mr. Kayode Fayemi ends this year. And the electoral body is putting things in place for the replacement of the governor.

The PDP has now shifted its scheduled primary election from 28 January (Friday) to 26 January, 2022. This was done in other for the party to beat the deadline given by the electoral umpire for the said gubernatorial election.

The PDP national organising secretary of the National Working Committee, Umar M. Bature, released a statement to that effect.

Some top politicians have already obtained form to show interest in the ticket of the party and to participate in the primary election. Prominent among them are Mr. Segun Oni, a former governor, Mrs. Abiodun Olujimi, eight other women and a loyalist of Ayodele Fayose.

The statement released by the secretary asked the aspirants, stakeholders and all members of the Ekiti State chapter of the PDP to be guided and informed.
