As the 2026 Osun State gubernatorial race draws closer, one of the most recurring questions in political discourse within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and beyond is: Who truly represents the future of the party and the yearnings of the people?
Amidst this growing curiosity, one name persistently rises to the top, and that is Omooba Dotun Babayemi Babayemi who is popularly called ODB is a man many believe is not only the pride of Osun West but also the true face of APC governorship in 2026.
For over a decade, there has been a growing sentiment within Osun West Senatorial District that the zone has been politically sidelined in terms of governorship opportunity.
Since the return to democracy in 1999, Osun Central and Osun East have produced governors, with Osun West only having a brief and transitional experience in power. This reality has fueled a justifiable call for zoning the governorship seat to Osun West in 2026.
Omooba Dotun Babayemi (ODB), no doubt, will be a round peg in the governorship round hole from November 2026. As of today, he is the only aspirant of APC who has no negative baggage attached to his name. He is full of human kindness mixed with respect and humility.
Taking power from a lame government we have in Osun State today may not be easy with any candidate who has a negative image before the voting public. We need a man who can navigate across parties and religious bridges. The only aspirant who has that pedigree and tendency is Prince Dotun Akanji Babayemi.
