The impeached speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudasiru Obasa has explained that he remains the speaker of the assembly and that his “purported” removal was void. He further stated that he is above everyone as far as the assembly I concerned.
Online Parrot News had reported that the state lawmakers voted overwhelmingly to remove him as speaker. Mojisola Meranda was elected in his stead amidst allegations of corruption, bribery, fraud against him. The news media also learned that his removal might be connected to the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Mr. Obasa said that he has been in the house for over 20 years and he remains the longest serving member of the assembly. He added that that nobody has surpassed bus history, position and everything in th chamber.
Obasa, who was seen visiting K1 de Ultimate in Lagos, also explained that his removal didn’t follow due processes.
“I have been a parliamentarian for over two decades and I’m the longest serving member in the Lagos State House of Assembly and no one as we speak has surpassed my history, position and everything,” he said.
“I believe in removal, there is no impeachment in the assembly; you cannot impeach speaker. Probably there is a mistake from them. You can only remove the speaker and if you want to remove, you must ensure you follow the rules. I am not afraid of being removed, what else am I looking for?”
“What I’m saying: if you want to do that, do it constitutionally. Follow the due process,” he said.
